Popis: | Recurrent infections, particularly acute respiratory infections are an important cause that affects the morbidity and mortality in children. According to various data about 4 million children die each year because of acute lower respiratory tract infections. Approximately 28% of the deaths are of children under five years of age. A properly functioning immune system has evolved a number of mechanisms acting locally and systemically to effectively manage in the defense against infections. Frequent infections may indicate a deficiency of cellular or humoral immunity, in rare cases, both. Deficiency of immunoglobulin subclasses of IgG is a type of humoral immunodeficiency. It is a common cause of recurrent infections, particularly respiratory system. Diagnosis of immune disorders is difficult due to the high variability of clinical symptoms. Too late, an established diagnosis may lead to the occurrence of serious complications and permanent damage to the respiratory system. It is vital for early initiation of substitution treatment with IVIG, which has a direct impact on long-term prognosis. In this thesis we present a case of 6-year-old boy hospitalized several times because of recurrent infections of both the upper and lower respiratory tract and gastrointestinal rhinitis. A child at four years of age was diagnosed with immune disorders in the form of IgG3 subclass deficiency. However, the lack of cooperation from the patient's mother and non-adherence to medical recommendations led to clinical symptoms, increasing the frequency of illness and the deepening of immunodeficiency. |
