A modern approach to the desiqn of traffic light control is prerequisite for solving some major problems of urban transport systems. The foundations of a hierarchical-decentralized traffic light control are presented and the first application of these concepts - the Progetto Torino - is discribed. Significant results from simulations are given, for comparison with actual data which will be available by mid 1984. |
