Popis:	Forty-eight candidate repellents were screened in the laboratory against the American medicinal leech, Macrobdella dacora (Say), and a Korean species of Hirudo . Fifteen compounds, alone and/or in mixtures, provided protection for 200 or more rinses against M. decora; 12 provided protection against Hirudo . A mixture of 25% deet and 75% lanolin was selected for field tests in south-east Asia. Techniques for rearing the American medicinal leech were developed.
