Popis: | The decapentaplegic (dpp) gene of Drosophila melanogaster encodes a single polypeptide, belonging to the Transforming Growth Factor β (TGF-β) family, that play crucial role in embryonic patterning and development. Genetic and molecular analyses indicated that several of patterning functions of the gene are separated into three major domains- shv, Hin and disk. Using five set of primers, we have examined the DNA polymorphism pattern of the Hin region of dpp in 14 species of Drosophilidae to explore the molecular evolution of the gene in the family Drosophilidae. Interspecific comparison of the PCR products indicated that although the region is conserved in most species of Drosophilidae, three species of ananassae group (i.e. D. ananassae, D. bipectinata and D. parabipectinata) display polymorphism at the Hin region of the locus. On the basis of the result we suggest that there are reduced level of selective constraints within the Hin region of dpp in D. ananassae species group of Drosophilidae. |
