Popis: The Australian Government targeted the health needs and service access of Australia’s 2.5 million carers in the National Carer Strategy. Occupational therapists are experts in the needs and required supports of children and youth with a disability, and are therefore well positioned to team with other professionals to provide health and support services to carers as well. Occupational therapists in Australia are creating and expanding roles for the profession in a wide range of practice settings with individuals, families, groups and organisations and across the lifespan, from early childhood through to the last year of life. Paediatric occupational therapists bring a unique combination of knowledge and skills to the Sleepwise program. The role that Men’s Sheds play in providing spaces for meaningful social and occupational participation is cited as one key reason why so many of these marginalised male sub-populations access Men’s Sheds.
