Microvascular complications are one of the roots of mortality among type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The aim of the study is to determine the significance of the sleep segment from a 24-hour Holter ECG recording and to show the variation between the 24-hour signal and the sleep-segmented signal among the T2DM patients in Bangladesh using electrocardiographic variables related to microvascular complications. ECG data recording has been obtained from 103 T2DM patients (≥40 years old) and studied using time and frequency domain analysis of heart rate variability (HRV). The significance has been set at less than 0.05. The result reveals that the sleep segment recordings for ECG signals of the T2DM patients are more informative for diabetes microvascular complications. Although screening techniques are available, they are generally expensive. Detection of the microvascular complications using ECG recording during an effective time frame can help to make the screening affordable for poor patients. |
