Popis: This chapter deals with surgery for locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) and inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). The management of LABC and IBC is described. Detailed information about the tumour-node-metastasis (TNM) staging of LABC and the influence of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) on tumour response and the types of subsequent surgery is presented. Indications and contraindications for the timing and type of breast surgery are presented. Different approaches to salvage surgery are discussed. The risk of local recurrence and complications after neoadjuvant therapy and salvage surgery are depicted together. Cases where disease remains locally advanced after primary systemic therapy or where palliative surgery is required are discussed, including indications for flap-based wound closure and skin grafting.
