Popis: | Possible lysosomal participation in the pathomechanism of cardiac lesions in rats fed high-erucic acid rapeseed oil was investigated. Ninety young male rats were fed a diet containing a mixture of a) lard and corn oil; b) rapeseed oil low in erucic acid and c) rapeseed oil high in erucic acid. After 1,12 and 16 weeks of experimental feeding, the activities of cathepsin D, p-nitrophenyl-phosphatase and acetyl-glucosaminidase were determined in subcellular fractions of myocardial homogenates. No consistently significant changes were observed in any of the lysosomal enzyme activities or in the distribution of the total recovered protein. |
