Popis: | 1. A study was made of the thermal stresses generated in a substrate (cubic boron nitride powder) and coatings (titanium and manganese) deposited by vacuum evaporation and condensation. 2. It is shown that the stresses observed in particles coated by a process in which they are heated during condensation are due to the difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the coating and substrate materials. 3. The experimental data obtained are in agreement with results yielded by calculations of thermal stresses in coated spherical powder particles. |
