Popis: Madurai kaanji is one of the books of Pathupaatu. This book is created in the third century A.D, it focuses on the concept of impermanence of Madurai kaanji. This book consists of 782 feet and through it we can know the specialities of Madurai kaanji and the ecological ideas followed in Kaanji. The excellence of this book can be known through the phrase ‘Peruku vala Madurai kanchi’. In Madurai kaanji there are many ecological ideas that can be learned through five great elements (space, air, fire, water and earth). Through this text one can know how the ancient Tamils carried out water management system. One can see the beauty of the people living in the hilly areas. This book also explains that they cherished sea voyages with great joy. In this book one can find out how the ancient Tamils led a healthy lifestyle without fire and noise pollution. Good deeds of Pandyan Nedunchezhiyan are included in this book. Bhakiya Mary referred Madurai Kaanji as a geographical handbook. This article explains the ecological thoughts found in Madurai kaanji.
