Popis: A mobile fan testing unit was developed for in situ measurement of total airflow delivered by agricultural fans. A supply fan driven by a diesel engine through a hydrostatic drive was used to deliver air through a perforated plate into a canvas duct with the test fan at the opposite end. Balance was achieved by increasing the speed of the supply fan until it delivered the same flow into the duct as was being removed by the test fan. Pressure drop was measured across a calibrated perforated plate to determine total flow. Six peanut dryer fans were tested. Calibrated resistance plates were installed at the plenum ports to simulate the flow resistance of trailers loaded with peanuts. Flow was determined by first measuring the pressure drop across each plate, and then summing to get total flow. Agreement between perforated plate total flow and resistance plate total flow ranged from -0.6 to 3.45%, which is within the error bound for the measurements.
