Popis: The interest in hardwood forestry has increased considerably in Sweden in recent years. The access to timber and pulpwood from domestic hardwoods is limited, and has lead to an increase in import of deciduous wood. The present forest policy emphasizes the importance of hardwoods in the forest for biodiversity purposes. However, 288one obstacle for promoting hardwood silviculture among forest owners is the widespread doubt about profitability, where the cost of regeneration is one important part. The knowledge and information about inexpensive and effective regeneration methods of hardwood stands are therefore of utmost importance.
