Popis: | Intramuscular hemangiomas are benign lesions uncommon in the head and neck region. The masseter is the most commonly involved muscle in the craniofacial region. In the pre-auricular region intramuscular hemangiomas are often clinically misdiagnosed as parotid swelling. In the absence of calcifications within the lumen of the lesion, advanced imaging investigations such as ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are extremely useful in the diagnosis and treatment planning of such lesions. A case of intramuscular hemangioma occurring in an 8-year-old male patient is presented here. US, Color Doppler US, MRI and post contrast MRI were performed and diagnosis of intramuscular hemangioma in the masseter muscle of the left side was established. The lesion was treated with percutaneous sclerotherapy with no recurrence in a six-month follow-up. |
