Studies of the kinetics of e-caprolactone polymerization in the presence of complex compounds of the type R4N+FeCl4−, R4P+FeCl4−, R4N+ZnCl3− and R4P+ZnCl3−, and also of the properties of the formed oligomers lead to the conclusion that the inactivation of active centres proceeds as a reaction competing with the chain propagation reaction under the effect of catalyst decomposition products. Inactivation occurs by recombination and cyclization of growing macromolecules. A kinetic scheme of the polymerization is proposed, leading to an equation correlating well with the experimental data. |
