Measurements on polarization of protons with energies of 4.9 GeV and 8.5 GeV and |t| ≈ 0.3 GeV2 have shown that the value of polarization considerably decreases with the increase of proton energy. The analysis of experimental data shows that of the two possible reasons for this effect, (i) decrease of the absolute value of spin flip amplitude and (ii) decrease of the difference between the phase shifts of the amplitudes with and without spin flip, the second reason is more probable. Using the general internucleon potential an approximate formula for p-p scattering polarization at high energies is obtained. |
