Popis: | This article proposes a new method of monitoring the chloride ion content in all special-purpose fluids (SPF) based on the reaction of chloride ion precipitation by silver nitrate and potentiometric registration of the point of equivalence. Nonaqueous solvents, such as ethyl alcohol, are used to lower the solubility of AgCl and to increase the magnitude of the potential jump. A weighed sample of the SPF is dissolved in the solvent and titrated with 0.01 N AgNO/sub 3/ solution until the potential jump is observed. The chloride ion content is calculated from the formula X=VT x 100/g, where X is the chloride ion content, V is the volume of 0.01 N AgNO/sub 3/ solution consumed in titration, T is the titer of the 0.01 N AgNO/sub 3/ solution, and g is the fluid sample weight. |
