The cross section and angular distributions of fission fragments in neutron-induced 249 Bk fission were measured in the energy range from 0.6 MeV to 1.8 MeV as well as at 4.6 MeV. The fission cross section increases monotonically from ≈ 10 mb at 0.65 MeV to 1.4 b at 1.8 MeV with increasing neutron energy. The fission threshold, determined as the energy at which the cross section reaches one half of its “plateau” value, is equal to 1.07 MeV. In accordance with the smooth behaviour of the cross section, the angular distributions of fragments reveal small anisotropy ≈ 1.1, and do not vary appreciably over the whole energy range investigated. |
