In cognitive-behavioral models, body checking is understood as an important factor in the development and maintenance of body image disorders (e.g. bulimia nervosa and body dysmorphic disorder). We want to examine the relationship between body checking and the severity of psychopathology in more detail, examining the role of different psychological factors. In this context, we will investigate the extent to which different personality traits, i.e. insecurity intolerance, negative urgency and negative emotionality, contribute to the prediction of the relationship between body checking and disorder-specific psychopathology. |
