Industry 4.0 Contributions in Sustainable Operations

Popis: Industrial activity has already undergone three revolutions and each one brought with it its particularities and benefits. Currently, we are going through the Fourth Industrial Revolution, also called Industry 4.0, which will bring about changes in various aspects of society, with the development of studies in this area being of great importance. Thus, the objective of this work is to analyze how Industry 4.0 can contribute to develop more sustainable operations practices. The methodologies used were the Systematic Literature Review, which consists of strategies for searching for published works, reading them and removing information, and the Content Analysis Method, which allows research, exploration and interpretation of materials, in this case, the use of reports for such analysis. After applying the methods, it was found that the technologies could be used in favor of companies not only in the economic aspect, but also in the social and environmental aspects, promoting advances and modifying the structure of organizations. The results point that there are several economics benefits, however the Fourth Industrial Revolution will contribute positively in environment, while others are still difficult to measure, as in the social pillar, in which some functions will no longer exist.
