Popis: This study concerns a constructive replication of an earlier work by B. M. Staw (Organizational Behavior and Human Performance, 1975, 13, 414–432). In a laboratory experiment, Staw demonstrated that fictitious performance reports, when given to work groups, could affect group members' perceptions of group processes. This study adds a longitudinal dimension to his work. The variable of group history was incorporated into Staw's original laboratory design. Newly formed groups as well as groups of students with a 12-week history of working together participated in the Financial Puzzle exercise used by Staw. Results showed an almost exact replication of the attribution effect reported by Staw for the newly formed groups. Unexpectedly, group history did not rival performance feedback as a cue for individual perceptions of group process to the degree that was expected.
