Popis: The cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (CN PDE) enzyme system consists of multiple molecular forms. These activities can be distinguished by substrate and immunological specificities, physico-chemical, kinetic and regulatory properties (Strada et al., 1984; Beavo, 1988). A number of drugs have been developed that exhibit pharmacological specificity for one or more isoforms. These drugs can be used to selectively inhibit these enzymes and, therefore can be used to study their role in the intact cell.
