Popis:	The authors are to be congratulated for providing the mining and geotechnical community with a well documented account explaining why a disastrous flow movement of tailings occurred from the breach of the Merriespruit gold tailings impoundment in South Africa in 1994. Lessons learned from this disaster should not be lost on the profession. Some important aspects however beg further elaboration and recognition.
