The investigation of the photorefractive effect in crystals Pb5Ge3O11:Cu and Pb5Ge3O11 that we have started earlier3 was continued. The lead germanate crystal doped by copper demonstrated the photorefractive properties atthe wave length of496.5 mn with diffraction efficiency ofthe recorded hologram of 0.4 %. The crystal Pb5Ge3O11 exhibited the photorefractive effect at the wave length 496.5 mu and 5 14.5 nm. In this case the grating diffractionefficiency was 5 .3%. As for two investigated crystals the total intensity of writhing beams kept at the level of 100mW/cm2. There was no external electric field applied to crystals. We studied the temporal characteristics ofrecording and of erasure of holographic gratings and the crystal response time as a fimction of the total light intensity. Keywords: holographic gratings, formation and erasure time, diffraction efficiency, holographic image processingINTRODUCTION In this work the lead germanate crystals Pb5Ge3O11:Cu and Pb5Ge3O11 were studying in purpose to determine apossibility oftheir usage in holographic devices for dynamic optical signal processing. |
