The Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder is characterized by the absence or reduction of the sexual desire as well as of erotic fantasies. It is the most prevalent dysfunction in women but can also be present among men. Although it can bring several problems to the individual or the couple – and having in consideration the diagnostics criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) – this dysfunction can only diagnosed when it generates uneasiness. It is impossible to refer to an effective treatment method since every case is different from others, but it is possible to mention among others the PLISSIT model as well as sexual therapy by erotic reading. |
