Popis: | It is proposed that the thickness of slabs in the secondary cooling zone of a continuous slab caster be varied in relation to the weight of the coils which will be rolled on the succeeding hot-strip mill. Here, the length of the cast slabs is equal to the maximum length of the slabs that will be used on the mill. The monthly order portfolio of one 2000 hot-strip mill (HSM) is used as an example to illustrate the substantial (30% or more) possible reductions in fuel consumption and crop loss on the flying shears. The proposed scheme decreases the amount of work done by the initial roughing stands in deforming the metal and makes it more profitable to roll lower-weight coils on an HSM. |
