Popis:	1. The posture of deformed finger joints in rheumatoid arthritis needs close analysis in terms of disturbed muscle balance. Although disorganisation of the joint itself may be the primary factor in the development of deformity, the deformity is often secondary to an extrinsic disturbance of muscle balance. 2. The part played by tendon ruptures in producing such imbalance is discussed.
