Popis:	The possible contribution of internal degrees of freedom to the activation of simple bimolecular reactions is discussed in terms of a classical model; it is suggested that existing experimental data on the reactions of halogen atoms with isobutane and of sodium atoms with the alkyl halides may prove to be examples of such behaviour.
