A stochastic model was developed from the results obtained in ponds with carp monoculture when fish were fed on pellets containing 30% protein. It was validated from the results obtained in the same ponds while the water temperature was higher, pellets were enriched with vitamins and polyculture of carp with bighead and grass carp was introduced. The model proved applicable, thus allowing for the prediction of growth of the unit body mass of 2-year-old carp, the harvest and the number of fish in ponds during the period of growth when the individual fish body masses are known from control sampling. Thus feeding rates can be calculated accurately, and in this way optimize carp production. The model needs further validation under different climatic conditions and for different soils and carp culture biotechniques. |
