In this contribution, we present semitransparent small molecule organic solar cells (OSC). If only the standard absorber materials zinc phthalocyanine (absorption 600-750 nm) and C60 (absorption maximum at 450 nm) are used, many OSC suffer from narrow absorption bands. We present devices that employ bulk heterojunctions of dibenzoperiflanthene and C60 to achieve uniform coverage of a wide part of the solar spectrum to utilise a wide wavelength range. Using thin multilayer metal contacts and organic capping layers, we achieve in first experiments semitransparent OSC (“power windows”) with a power conversion efficiency of 1.6 ± 0.1%, having a high open circuit voltage of 0.81 V. By using only nm-thin metal electrodes, the OSC can be made without ITO or other transparent conductive oxides.
