Hot forming or rolling in the ferrite region (HRF) is a special kind of thermomechanical treatment with a remarkable potential for innovation. By this technology it is possible to produce hot rolled strips from low-carbon steels with new quality parameters, on the one hand, and in a thinner thickness dimension, on the other hand. The changes in microstructural morphology must be suitably influenced and controlled according to the specific material importance. Scientific understanding and control of this process is not as far developed as in other cases of thermomechanical treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the complete process and microstructure evolution by experimental and mathematical methods. An overview of the specifics and characteristics of HRF is given, and some results are demonstrated. |
