Popis: | The present study reports relative account of seasonal variations (rainy, winter and summer) in primary metabolites such as leaf pigments, proline, sugar, crude protein and phosphorus and secondary metabolites like total alkaloids and phenols in the leaves of Phyllanthus amarus, an important medicinal plant of the Indian Thar desert. Maximum amount of total chlorophylls and phosphorus were observed during the rainy, while total sugars and proline were higher during winter season. However, highest values for crude protein, total alkaloids and phenols were found during summer season. Thus, the present study concludes that in P. amarus, summer season was found to be the most favourable for maximum production of crude protein, total alkaloids and phenols. |
