Popis:	A case is made for more extensive use of theory in studies of rural manufacturing expansion. To stimulate and facilitate the use of theory, the authors analyze four perspectives used in this area: symbolic interactionism, complex organizations, systems theory, and cultural contextual theories. The advantages and disadvantages of each of these approaches is shown. The authors conclude that the use of any of the four would be superior to presently dominant practices.
