Popis: Using two case studies, FOAM and Hyperion, this chapter considers how the consequences of emerging shifts from top-down traditional forms of geo-locative mapping towards blockchain mapping within platform urbanisms become entangled with the politics of knowledge, visibility and responsibility by unpacking the social and ethical implications of their implicitly market-based claims of the democratisation of cartographic knowledge. It also considers the current position of digital mapping applications and how these are applied to urban platforms. The chapter analyses some of the propositions made by both Foam and Hyperion about the way in which blockchain mapping would provide “proof of location” and cartographic data. It investigates how decentralised blockchain mapping might work in urban platforms and everyday digital mobilities, along with some of the possibilities and pitfalls of the blockchain approach. In summary, blockchain mappings do have potential to disrupt the stranglehold of big digital mapping companies in platform urbanism.
