Popis:	The NMR spectra of griesenin (I) and dihydrogrienesin (II), sesquiterpenoid lactones from Geigeria africana Gries, and some of their derivatives have been analysed in detail. The conformation of the cycloheptene ring has been determined to be a slightly distorted boat. The NMR parameters are discussed in relation to the stereochemistry.
