Control of flow separation from leading edge of a shallow rectangular cylinder through momentum injection

Popis: Finding a method to suppress aeroelastic vibrations of a bridge deck is an important research to construct a superlong suspension bridge with the main span longer than 2000 m. For this end, the boundary-layer control method was proposed and a fundamental experimental research was conducted. This method was applied to the suppression of torsional flutter of a shallow rectangular prism which was one of typical fundamental configurations of a bridge deck section. The results obtained from measurements of surface pressure distributions and aeroelastic vibration responses showed that the proposed boundary-layer control method through momentum injection was effective for suppressing the torsional flutter of a shallow rectangular prism.
