Popis: | An investigation is performed of the computational considerations involved with the numerical solution of multidimensional, multimode heat transfer in a radiatively participating medium. Comparison of three different methods for solving the discretized nonlinear equations shows that none of Ike techniques is universally superior, but that the best solution algorithm is highly dependent on the value of the radiation-conduction parameter. In addition, it is shown that the global error can be significantly reduced by placing only a few additional nodal points in high gradient regions. Furthermore, the inclusion of a linearly varying, temperature-dependent conductivity (wherein both conductive and radiative terms art nonlinear) is shown to have little effect on convergence. |
