Popis: The mass spectrometer Strofio onboard BepiColombo will perform detailed measurements of the chemical composition of Mercury's exosphere. The time and spatial variations of the composition signal will deliver important information about the mechanisms responsible for creating and maintaining the exosphere. Data available from MESSENGER and ground telescope observations as well as simulation on the processes leading to the exosphere are compared to instrument performance as measured during calibration to prove Strofio can reach the stated goals. The instrument suffered in flight an unexpected high voltage problem, but we were able to identify workarounds that should be sufficient to recover most (if not all) the performances necessary for achieving the goals of the experiment.
