Popis: | Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease characterized by inflammatory neoplastic proliferation by of myeloid precursor cells with a high affinity for bone and skin but may affect any organ. The clinical manifestation of LCH varies between single lesions that may show spontaneous resolvement to life-threatening multisystem disease. Treatments used are surgical interference, local radiotherapy, chemotherapy or sometimes a combination of these approaches. Intralesional injections of steroids have been described to have a good outcome in single skeletal lesions of LCH. This report presents two male patients, 6 and 9-years old, with LCH affecting the right posterior mandible. Both were successfully treated with intralesional injection of methylprednisolone in one single session. Complete recovery was confirmed clinically and radiographically approximately 2 years after injection. |
