The paper regards active charge balancing of Li Ion battery cells based on flyback converter topology. The topology is chosen aiming the final product cost and manufacturability. A prototype of single branch of the envisioned system is built. Verification of the operating conditions and investigation of the prototype efficiency is carried out. The influence on the circuit performance in the best case and worse case conditions is further explored by looking at selected waveforms. The obtained results could be used as a basis for future improvement of an active charge balancer. |
