Popis:	IN THE past few years we have witnessed some marked changes in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. The application of surgery in this field has become more and more common and to-day it would be almost impossible to begin the treatment of any case of pulmonary tuberculosis without having in mind some surgical procedure. The hopelessness of long-continued bed rest has at last been well nigh universally accepted and a definite attempt has been successfully made to shorten the period of needed hospitalization in all cases, but especially in the chronic types of the disease. In some sections the new idea has been accepted with open arms and in other places, with some reluctance. Attempts at standardization of treatment to be used here is just as difficult as in any other field of medicine.
