Popis: | This chapter presents a multiple access scheme which considers the traffic features of MTC. In the proposed scheme, the focus in on uplink scenarios, as in typical M2M networks the uplink traffic is heavier than the downlink traffic. Furthermore, as machine-type devices belong to different applications, the isolation between different applications is considered. More specifically, a carrier sensing-based multiple access scheme is proposed in which each device is assigned a unique backoff value by the AP. Assuming the AP is aware of traffic statistics of devices, the backoff values are assigned to devices such that the total network throughput is maximized while the application requirements are met. This problem is formulated as a Markov decision process, however, to address the computational complexity, a heuristic algorithm is proposed. Furthermore, the efficacy of the proposed scheme is demonstrated via simulation results. |
