This paper presents a comparative study among three different rotor anisotropy machine that includes one inset rotor type of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (Inset-PMSM) and two Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) (one is conventional I-shape PM embedded in the rotor and another designed with V-shape PM) for high-speed applications. In this study, all machines have similar single distributed winding in the stator, which was designed to operate via variable speed drive (VSD). Electromechanical performances of these PMSMs were compared with regard to their torque density, torque ripple, cogging torque, losses, efficiency, flux density, flux linkage, air gap flux density, saliency ratio, and flux weakening control. These key performance indicators were examined by using Finite element analysis (FEA) with the help of MATLAB codes. |
