Popis: | In the present work, hardness measurement and fractography study of magnesium alloy (AZ 61) reinforced with alumina and Molybdenum Disulphide developed by powder metallurgy route has been investigated successfully. The sintered composite samples were coated using Sol-gel substances through spin coating techniques. The hardness values were enhanced approximately 14% to 23% in the sol–gel coated sample as compared with the uncoated sample. The maximum hardness values were obtained from the Magnesium powder with 2 wt% of Al2O3 and 2 wt% of MoS2. An increasing amount of MoS2 mixed with magnesium powder reacts as the self-lubricant substance and reduced the hardness. Similarly, the coated samples obtained maximum compressive strength compared to the sintered samples. The coated sample withstand higher load bearing strength, it reveals that fracture toughness of the composites. |
