Popis: The plasmid pVGI.1(VEGF2) contains 5283 base pairs and encodes the full length cDNA of the VEGF-2 gene. Preclinical studies and earlier clinical trials demonstrated that injecting the pVGI.1(VEGF2) directly into muscles provided therapeutic angiogenic effects both in the heart (CAD) and in the limb (PAD). Presumably, the VEGF-2 protein expressed from pVGI.1(VEGF2) promotes angiogenesis in the injected tissues. In vitro, it has been shown that the purified VEGF-2 protein mediated proliferative and chemotactic responses in endothelial cells through the binding to the VEGF receptors VEGFR-2 (KDR) or VEGFR-3 (Flt-4).
