Multitrace complex-valued correlation method

Popis: Coherency attribute can be used to detect anomalous structures, such as faults and channels, which are closely related to the distribution and migration of oil and gas. In this paper, we propose a multitrace complex-valued correlation method including both inline and crossline directions for detecting edges more accurate. A 3-D model data is used to test the performance of the proposed method. Results show that the multitrace complex-valued correlation can highlight edges of faults and channels, which can not be detected efficiently by correlation between two neighbouring traces. When applied to a 3-D real seismic data, this method identifies large and small faults simultaneously, and the existence of these faults is confirmed by manual interpretation on seismic sections.
