Popis: | The research presented in this paper examined the impacts decision-aids have on team decision-making. To conduct this examination, the research first developed the NeoCITIES simulation, an emergency crisis game that requires human users to defend a city against terrorism by working in teams and making resource allocation decisions. Second, the research developed Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) models for each team that facilitate human users in their decision-making tasks. The study measured if the presence of AI support improved resource allocation decisions made by the teams during the game. Experimental sessions were conducted with undergraduate students enrolled at a large northeastern university. Quantitative data that assessed team performance and qualitative data that assessed team mental model alignment were collected and analyzed. The research findings suggested that the decision-aids may have had a negative influence on teams. These findings could provide insight on how to implement decision- aids to better support human teams. |
