Popis: | Left ventricular hypertrophy is known to alter left ventricular function. As invasive studies have shown, it is especially the diastolic function that responds most sensitively to the increment in muscle mass (3). Doppler echocardiography offers a non-invasive means of monitoring the diastolic function of the left ventricle by assessing left ventricular filling pattern. Because of its ease of use and ready availability, this method was chosen to investigate left ventricular filling patterns in different forms of hypertrophy. Dilative cardiomyopathy, arterial hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy were chosen for comparison in order to ensure a wide range of LV hypertrophy. The study was undertaken to find out how left ventricular filling responds to various degrees of increment in muscle mass, alteration of LV dimensions and change in LV systolic function. |
