Popis: Exocoetidae REMARKS. A record of Parexocoetus rostratus (non G��nther, 1866) by Herre (1933: 12) is unidentifiable within the Exocoetidae. East Africa east to Revillagigedo and Malpelo Islands and Gal��pagos Archipelago, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia and Austral Islands. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 10 m. Marine. Cypselurus oligolepis (Bleeker, 1865) ���Largscale flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and SU material (AMS I. 16747 -010; SU 28237). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to southern China, south to northern Australia. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 20 m. Marine. Cypselurus opisthopus (Bleeker, 1865) ���Black-finned flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and SU material (AMS I. 16747 -005; SU 69746). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Andaman Sea east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 20 m. Marine. Hirundichthys albimaculatus (Fowler, 1934) ���Whitespot flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS material (AMS I. 19691 -017). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Philippines and New Guinea east to Hawaiian Islands. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 20 m. Marine. Parexocoetus brachypterus (Solander in Richardson, 1846) ���Sailfin flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Herre (1933: 12). SU material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian and Marquesas islands, south to northern Australia, New Caledonia and Tonga, Panama (eastern Pacific). Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 10 m. Marine. Parexocoetus mento (Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1847) ���African sailfin flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on SU material (SU 28239). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Fiji, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0��� 20 m. Marine. Prognichthys brevipinnis (Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1847) ���Shortfin flyingfish STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on SU material (SU 69745). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT.
