Popis: | Continuous bioreactors in series with recirculation can approximately be modeled by using a system of linear equations of the form Ax = 0. Using such representation, Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) is used as analysis tool and some interesting features appear. This method is introduced as an attractive option to apply the theory of continuous bioreactors to industrial scale. Linear algebra tools are used to analyze the design, simplifying the process and shedding new insights. Nontrivial solutions of such system represent operating conditions that assure a productive biomass concentration. The design analysis helps to characterize the dilution rate and recirculation proportion avoiding wash-out problems. Therefore, the analysis given here paves the way towards the real implementation of continuous bioreactors in the industrial scale production. |
