Electrical discharge machining is basically a nonconventional material removal process which is widely used to produce dies, punches and moulds, finishing parts for aerospace and automotive industry. Inconel X-750, a high strength, age-hardenable, Ni-base super alloy, finds wide range of applications in aerospace engineering on the basis of its excellent high-temperature and cryogenic properties. Electrical discharge machining can be successfully employed to machine electrically conductive parts irrespective of their hardness, shape and toughness such as Inconel X750. This article explains about an experiment conducted to study the effect of the input parameters like pulse peak current, pulse on time, gap voltage on material removal rate (MRR), Electrode wear rate (EWR) and surface roughness (Ra). The experiments were performed based on Box-Behnken design of experiments and influence ranking was done using the analysis of means technique. |
